Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-
We are just one week away from Spring Break, which means when we return we will be in one of the busiest seasons in a high school, and we will have only 8 more Mondays in the 2025-26 school year. I hope all our Raptors will take time this weekend to check out their Year Long grades in Canvas and make changes (as needed) to their work habits in April and May.
First up this week, here is one last reminder about Yearbooks:
-
2026 Yearbook Orders: Order your 2026 yearbook online 8/13/25-3/27/26 at yearbookordercenter.com (school code: 17686). Yearbooks are $30. All orders will be distributed to students at CodeRVA on May 14.
Next, here is a special message for Henrico County Families:
-
Each year you must let Henrico know about your transportation needs. A message should have gone out to you in ParentSquare on March 16th from Henrico Transportation. Please check that App and fill out the information as necessary. Let Dr. Harmon know at rebecca.harmon@coderva.org if you need any assistance.
Check out what our School Counseling Department has planned for this upcoming Flex Day:
-
Our School Counselors will hold an open reflection forum for 12th graders to share their favorite moments with each other over the last 4 years. Seniors will also share “what they wish they knew,” and their wisdom will be passed down to the underclass students.
-
Our Reynolds Community College Career Coaches will work with our future Dual Enrollment Sophomores on their applications to Reynolds Community College.
-
Our GRASP advisor, Joyce King, will be available to meet with Seniors and will contact Senior families regarding financial aid opportunities.
-
Our Economics and Personal Finance teacher, Ms. Boor, will be conducting a work session with EPF students who need to catch up on assignments.
Thank you to everyone who came out and/or supported the PTSA’s 5K last weekend! Check out the note below from the PTSA as well, especially if you would like to get involved in a fairly low time commitment way:
-
Thank you to everyone who helped make the PTSA 5k and Spring Festival a success! A special thanks to all the following people:
-
Co-chairs: Janet Kramer and Laura Peters
-
Committee Members: Britt Alonzo, Dawnita Taylor-Biggers, Jenny Tremblay, Melody Beauchamp, Charles Talley, Allison Douthat, and Melissa Mundy who put together the lovely raffle baskets.
-
And a special shout-out to Kevin Starke- DJ Chef Kev donated DJ services, Daniel Klein – Daniel Klein Media donated photos (check them out on the PTSA Facebook page), and Aaria Covington who sang the National Anthem.
-
-
We are looking for 2 people to serve on our Nominating Committee for next year. These would be parents who are interested in helping in the PTSA, but do not wish to serve on the Board.
Since it’s the week before a break, you know our SCA is hosting a Spirit Week! Check out the message from them below:
-
Celebrate Spring and our upcoming Spring Break by participating in the SCA’s Spirit Week themes. All dress/costumes must be school appropriate.
-
Monday 3/23 – Neon Day: Dress in bright neon colors. The SCA will provide everyone with a glowstick necklace or bracelet.
-
Tuesday 3/24 – Teachers vs. Students: Teachers dress like students. Students dress like your favorite teacher.
-
Wednesday 3/25 – Character Day: Dress like a character you love!
-
Thursday 3/26 – Squad Day: Coordinate with your squad to dress alike!
-
Friday 3/27 – Mardi Gras Day: Parade into Spring Break. The SCA will provide everyone with a bead necklace you can trade with your friends. Who can gather the most with school appropriate methods?

Here is some information from the Virginia Department of Education we have been asked to pass along. You may notice a new link on our School Counselors’ page on our website: Parent & Caregiver Resources for Self-Harm, Suicide, & Violence Prevention | Virginia Department of Education. The VDOE would also like you to be aware of LockandTalk.org and the new legislation of § 18.2-56.2 or Allowing Access to Firearms by Children:
A. It shall be unlawful for any person to recklessly leave a loaded, unsecured firearm in such a manner as to endanger the life or limb of any child under the age of fourteen. Any person violating the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
B. It shall be unlawful for any person knowingly to authorize a child under the age of twelve to use a firearm except when the child is under the supervision of an adult. Any person violating this subsection shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. For purposes of this subsection, “adult” shall mean a parent, guardian, person standing in loco parentis to the child or a person twenty-one years or over who has the permission of the parent, guardian, or person standing in loco parentis to supervise the child in the use of a firearm.
Last but not least, here is an event you may want to mark your calendars for:
-
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), in partnership with the VCU Center on Transition Innovation and Reynolds Community College, will host a Statewide Transition Fair for students with disabilities on May 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event is open to students in public school divisions supported by the Virginia Department of Education and Level Up Virginia. The Transition Fair will provide students with the opportunity to engage directly with representatives from colleges, training programs, community organizations, and agencies offering postsecondary education and transition-related services. Exhibitors will host vendor tables, share information about available programs, and help students explore pathways aligned with their goals.
That is it for this week, Raptors! We might finally have a weekend that feels like spring. I hope you are able to get outside and have some fun, and stay safe!
