Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-

I hope this email finds you in the midst of a good summer, or if it’s a great summer, maybe this email doesn’t find you until August.

We have just a few updates for you this week, and a copy of this email is being forwarded to all our incoming ninth grade families as well.  We have filled our last seat for the Class of 2030 (barring any unexpected changes) and we will be rolling over to our 2026-27 school year in our computer system soon so you get these emails automatically with a text and call as well.

First up this week, we have a few key dates for your calendars.  If you need to see our 2026-27 Academic Calendar, it’s available 24-7 on our website here.

  • We will offer two in person fee paying opportunities for families wishing to use CASH OR CHECK ONLY for their fees.  We will not have any online stations set up for fee paying since families can access the online system from any phone or computer.  We anticipate student schedules being emailed to families the week of August 6 (possibly before) and you will need that to pay your student’s fees.  Please note our fee system may not be open that week for payments though.  Once schedules are finalized then each student’s class fees have to be loaded into the OSP system.  I know it’s 2026, but somehow the OSP system is still quite manual for its users.  Stay tuned for when that system opens up!  If you can’t make one of the fee dates below but still want to use cash or check, please send the exact amount to school with your student when they return to campus.

  • August 19 3:15-4 PM and August 26 3:15-4 PM

  • School Picture Day for Grades 9-11: September 17
  • Back to School Night (an optional event): September 22 (Exact Times TBD, but after 5:30 PM)
  • Homecoming: October 16

Attention all Returning Raptors!  Did you take an AP exam this past spring?  If so, your score is now available to view!  Go to apstudents.collegeboard.org/view-scores and log in using your College Board account.  This is the same account that you use to access My AP and other College Board resources.  Don’t create a new account if you already have one, as it may cause a delay in getting your AP scores.  Once you are logged in, you will see your scores.

Here are two reminders for the Class of 2027:

  • Here is everything you need to know about Class of 2027 Senior Portraits, Yearbook Ads, etc.

  • Please be aware all 12th graders must show proof of two doses of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine: one dose before age 16 and one dose at age 16 or older. If a student did not receive a single dose before age 16, one dose given at age 16 or older is fine.  Families can send a printed or scanned copy of the student’s shot record to cindy.crowder@coderva.org or send in a copy with the student.  The deadline for submitting this information is August 20, but don’t wait if you have this information on hand now.  Students will not be able to attend school in the fall without verification of this immunization.  If you have questions or need additional assistance, please call Nurse Crowder at 968-1823 or email her at the address above.

Our Clawesome CodeRVA PTSA is already hard at work this summer on behalf of our staff and students!  Please consider joining them using the information here .

Last but not least today, here is an opportunity we were asked to pass along from our partners in the City of Richmond:

  • The City of Richmond has officially launched the Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF). Through a partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies and NextUp RVA, Richmond will award microgrants of $1,000 to $5,000 to youth-led climate projects that advance the goals of the RVAgreen 2050 Climate Equity Action Plan. Up to $45,000 in total funding is available to support 8 to 45 projects across the city.  Richmond’s youth have bold ideas for our climate future, and this fund is designed to put resources directly behind them.

  • Eligible projects span a wide range of ideas, including climate education campaigns, community gardens and urban farming, tree planting, recycling and waste reduction programs, sustainable transportation initiatives, citizen science and environmental research, climate resilience workshops, and youth participation in city climate governance.  Join us for a virtual informational session on August 12th  at 12:00 PM to learn more about the program and application process.  How to apply: All applications must be submitted online at rvagreen2050.com/ycaf.

That is it for this week, Raptors!  I hope you have a great rest of your July, and you can anticipate the next edition of The Raptor Rundown to hit your Inbox on August 6 before we resume our usual weekly schedule of 3 PM on Fridays.  I hope everyone is having a safe and restful summer before we kick off the best year yet: 2026-27!
