Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-

Before you head into the Memorial Day weekend, we have a few reminders for next week for all 9th, 10th, and 11th families.  A Raptor Rundown Lite, if you will.

First, all 9th grade students will turn in their Chromebooks on Friday, May 30.  Students should also turn in their charger and any hotspot devices, headphones, etc. borrowed from the Help Desk.  Students may not keep these items over the summer, and families will be billed if these items are not returned.  All students should have their devices and chargers labeled as theirs.  If your student has lost their charger, please plan to pay $35, which helps the school defray the cost of replacement.  If your student’s Chromebook has been damaged, families will be billed for the cost of the repair.  Students attending Summer Session will use in-house devices while on site for those courses.  They will not have homework during Summer Session, so they will not need to take those devices home.

All 10th and 11th grade students will keep their current laptops and cases.  As a reminder, families will be billed for any damage that occurs to students’ computers both during the school year and over the summer.  Please alert us now before your student leaves if there is already damage so that we can have it repaired before the new school year begins.  10th and 11th grade students attending Summer Session should bring their devices for those courses each day.

Any student not returning to CodeRVA for the 2025-26 school year must turn in their device, charger, and any other borrowed items on their last day of school at CodeRVA.  Transcripts will be held until all items are returned or fees are paid, which means students cannot complete enrollment in their new school.

For the first time in CodeRVA’s history, we are offering a limited quantity of RETIRED laptops in exchange for a $100 donation to the school (cash or checks made to CodeRVA Regional High School will be accepted).  The devices are Dell Latitude 3300/3301 models that include 8GB RAM; 119GB storage; i5 processor; 13.3″ LCD screens; and a fresh Windows 11 OS install.  Purchase also includes a protective case (used) and a charging cord. Devices no longer have a manufacturer warranty and will not be supported by CodeRVA technology staff once purchased.  Devices will be wiped and all software will be removed except for software that is included in a Windows 11 OS installation.  These devices may no longer be used on CodeRVA property and are being offered to families who may want a device for home use.  If you are interested in making a donation and receiving a device, please email Mr. Breunig at michael.breunig@coderva.org.  Requests will be processed in the order in which they were received.

Lastly, we will be hosting our annual End of the Year Awards Assemblies on May 29 using the schedule below.  Due to space restrictions and the brevity of each assembly, we cannot invite guests to join in person, but these short, informal ceremonies are streamed live using Zoom, and each ceremony will be recorded in case you are not able to watch in real time.  You can find the link to join and a short description of the main awards distributed at each ceremony below.  Each student attending the ceremony will also receive a fun treat courtesy of our amazing PTSA!

Please note all families whose students are receiving an award will be contacted via a different message so they can be sure to watch live or watch the recording.

Assemblies for grades 9, 10, and 11 will be held on May 29 in the 100s using this schedule:

  • 9:00-9:30 AM: All 11th graders
  • 9:50-10:20 AM: All 10th graders
  • 10:25-10:55 AM: All 9th graders

Award Categories:

  • President’s Award for Educational Excellence: this award recognizes academic success in the classroom.  Students per specific course who have a 90% or above for a final grade for the current school year who have displayed high motivation, initiative, integrity, intellectual depth, leadership qualities and/or exceptional judgment are recognized.  For Dual Enrollment and fully online courses: World Languages, Economic and Personal Finance, and Health/PE 9 and 10 (due to the variability of the class sections and instructors), the student who has the highest grade in each content area in each grade level will be selected, unless no students with a C or higher in the course exist.
  • President’s Award for Educational Achievement: this award recognizes students that show outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development in their academic subjects. Its purpose is to encourage and reward students who give their best effort, often in the face of special obstacles.  This award is specifically for students enrolled in in-person, CodeRVA courses.
  • The top 5 students in each grade level with the most PBIS referrals are recognized.
  • We will also have a few special awards to distribute from outside partners.

Thank you for tuning in for this short, time-sensitive update, and we hope you have a safe and relaxing weekend!
