Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-
Since we are officially in Summer Session now we only have a few updates for you this week, and you can mark your calendars that there will not be an update next week due to the shorter workweek for our staff. CodeRVA Regional High School will be closed on Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Related, our partners at U of R recently sent this list of upcoming celebrations if your family is looking for something to do this weekend or next week.
-
Here are a few of the Juneteenth celebrations taking place this month:
-
Saturday, June 13, 1-8:30 p.m., various locations – Juneteenth, A Freedom Celebration presented by Elegba Folklore Society

-
Saturday, June 21, 4-10 p.m. at Dorey Park – Henrico’s Juneteenth Celebration

Next, please stay tuned for changes to our cell phone policies for 2025-26. If you have been following the news, you may have seen recent media coverage of the new law that goes into effect July 1. This past school year we felt we could be a bit more flexible than our school division partners because the cell phone guidance was an Executive Order rather than passed legislation, but our school will now have to comply for the upcoming school year. We will share updates to our procedures via the Raptor Rundown this summer as soon as we finalize that information.
Here is some information our neighbors at Michael and Son’s asked us to pass along.
-
Michael & Son’s Trade Summer Program, hosted by our own teachers at our state-of-the-art training academy, is now accepting applications for students ages 17–18 who are interested in exploring careers in the skilled trades, specifically plumbing and HVAC. This hands-on camp is designed to introduce students to real-world skills, expose them to the tools and knowledge used in the trades, and help them understand the pathways to apprenticeships, certifications, and long-term careers. It’s an ideal program for students who may be considering alternatives to traditional college or who are eager to take their first step into a stable, high-demand industry.
Last but not least today, here is a fun article that mentions one of our Senior Internship projects from this school year: Richmond’s historic Pump House ‘works’ again, thanks to VCU and VR
I hope all our Raptor Dads, Fathers, Stepfathers, Grandfathers, Godfathers, Uncles and Father Figures have a great Sunday this weekend and that all our Raptor families have had a great start to their summer!

Here are the award assembly videos for our 9th, 10th and 11th grade families.
Attention Families of all RISING 12th Graders! Before your Senior year begins, you have one major task to check off. Please see below.
-
All 12th graders must show proof of two doses of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine: one dose before age 16 and one dose at age 16 or older. If a student did not receive a single dose before age 16, one dose given at age 16 or older is fine.
-
Families can send a printed or scanned copy of the student’s shot record to cindy.crowder@coderva.org or send in a copy with the student. The deadline for submitting this information is August 15th, but don’t wait if you have this information on hand now. Students will not be able to attend school in the fall without verification of this immunization. If you have questions or need additional assistance, please call Nurse Crowder at 968-1823 or email her at the address above.
