Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-

I hope your July has been off to a great start, and we have just a few updates for you today.

Sharing this note again so that there are no surprises when we release our updated cell phone policy, but please remember we are compelled to follow the new statewide law passed by the General Assembly that prohibits the use of cell phones by students during the school day.  We will release detailed guidance closer to the start of school.

Next, we hope all our Class of 2026 families have checked these two items off their summer list.  We look forward to seeing all those Seniors who have scheduled their portraits for next week!

  • Attention all Seniors in the Class of 2026!  Here is all the information you need about Senior portraits, quotes, Yearbooks and more!

  • All 12th graders must show proof of two doses of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine: one dose before age 16 and one dose at age 16 or older. If a student did not receive a single dose before age 16, one dose given at age 16 or older is fine.  Families can send a printed or scanned copy of the student’s shot record to cindy.crowder@coderva.org or send in a copy with the student.  The deadline for submitting this information is August 15th, but don’t wait if you have this information on hand now.  Students will not be able to attend school in the fall without verification of this immunization.  If you have questions or need additional assistance, please call Nurse Crowder at 968-1823 or email her at the address above.

So that you can plan ahead, please note the alphabet distributions for our School Counselors and Special Education Case Managers for the 2025-26 school year.  Counselor assignments have not changed, but we have had a slight adjustment for our Special Education team with Mrs. Daniels’ exit and changes in our 9th grade enrollment:

Please note that after July 17 our teaching and counseling staff will not be in the building (but the 7 of us lucky employees who work 12 months a year will be here), so if you have a time-sensitive question, please contact our main email: info@coderva.org so we can assist you.  All CodeRVA staff will return on August 11.

Here is a message for all students who home-zoned high school is Varina in Henrico County:

  • If you are interested in learning how to play Field Hockey, please plan to meet in the Varina High School library on July 10th OR 14th 4 p.m.-5 p.m.  Here is a poster that may be helpful as well.

Previous Raptor Rundown Reminders

Reminder for any student taking a course through Virtual Virginia in 2025-26:

  • All world language courses taken through Virtual Virginia will begin on Thursday, August 14. Before courses begin, make sure your Virtual VA student account is set up and ready to use. VVA will send an email to your CodeRVA account that will contain your username and instructions on setting up your password if you are a new user or a returning student who does not remember your password. If you have any issues accessing your account, please email VVA at support@virtualva.org

  • Each VVA instructor will host a Course Orientation Session to help you get started in your VVA course on the first day of class. Each course instructor will send an email with a meeting link for the Course Welcome Session.

You might also want to mark your calendars now for this August event.  We weren’t able to send staff to check this out last year, but we did hear some good feedback about it.
