Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-
I’m not sure I can skip a Raptor Rundown anymore if we are going to end up with so many items the following week. Get comfortable for this week’s edition!
First, we have two messages from our School Counselors:
-
On Thursday, February 26, please join our School Counseling team for a virtual event: Getting Ready for Life After High School. Next, attention Families of 10th and 11th grade students! As you have probably heard from your students, we are adding in an annual college tour experience for our 10th and 11th grade students. Please see the timelines listed below and reach out to our Instructional Specialist Mr. Neal (brennan.neal@coderva.org) if you are interested in being a chaperone for either of these trips. -
Here is an early reminder that on Friday, March 6, 2026, CodeRVA will be administering a free SAT test to all 11th grade students. The SAT will be administered digitally, so please remind your student to bring their laptops fully charged on test day and that they must arrive on time. Students who arrive after 9:00 AM will not be allowed to take the test. Ninth, tenth and twelfth grade students should not report to the building on March 6 due to testing space constraints, but they will be expected to work on assignments at home. Transportation will be provided for 11th grade students like a regular school day; however, you are welcome to pick up your student after the test is finished.

Our CodeRVA PTSA has been hard at work already in 2026! Thank you so much to them for hosting our recent Senior Breakfast as we count down to Graduation 2026! There are still ways families can get involved in supporting our PTSA so they can continue to support our students and staff!

We were recently contacted by this local organization that offers free tutoring opportunities for our 9th and 10th grade students, so we are passing along key details to families here:
-
The VOWS Foundation, a Richmond-based nonprofit dedicated to academic support and youth development, is offering PrepWorks Academy, a free one-on-one tutoring program for students in grades 3–10. The program focuses on strengthening reading, math, critical thinking, and building student confidence in a supportive, stress-free environment. Students receive 45-minute sessions led by certified teachers, trained volunteers, and local college students. Tutoring is available Tuesday–Thursday from 5:30–7:30 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM–1 PM at a convenient, bus-accessible location.
Did you know there are also opportunities available for after school support from the Boys and Girls Club? Learn more here !
Are you looking for something fun to do with your family? Check out these upcoming events from our community partners!
-
Reynolds Community College is having its annual STEMFest – an evening of science and engineering open to everyone. There is no cost and no registration. Just come to the Parham Road Campus from 6-8 pm on March 4. There will be lots of fun activities, including robotics demonstrations and the weirdest goldfish you have ever seen! You can walk through the engineering lab, too. In past years, they have had many different chemistry and physics demonstrations.
-
On Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1 in the Alice Jepson Theatre, University Dancers celebrate 41 years of engaging dance with our annual concert, CURRENTS, which brings to the University of Richmond the work of innovative guest artists. Register for the February 28 concert here. Register for the March 1 concert here.
-
On Sunday, March 1, 3–4:40 p.m., faculty pianist, Doris Wylee-Becker will perform as part of the Department of Music Free Concert Series: Doris Wylee-Becker, piano – Calendar – University of Richmond
-
On Monday, March 2 at 7 p.m. the Modlin Center will host a performance by Jin Hi Kim, a composer, performer of komungo and electric komungo, and a Korean music specialist; with Scott Clark, drums; Adam Hopkins, bass; and Peni Candra Rini, composer and performer. Learn more here.
We made it to the end of this email! Before we go though, one observation that perhaps you noticed too. Not only are we celebrating Black History Month this February, but Lunar New Year, Ramadan, and Lent all coincided within a 24 hour period. I am sure this has happened before, but I don’t know if I have noticed if it has. I am so grateful to work in a school where we have families celebrating such a wide variety of traditions all at once. There are three months left in the 2025-26 school year, which feels surreal to type. Let’s make these last months of the year the best months, Raptors. Here’s a quote I hope will inspire you to do just that: “Never look down on anybody unless you’re helping them up.” (Reverend Jesse Jackson).
I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend! See you Monday!

Attention all 10th and 11th grade families! Check out this message about PSAT scores!
-
If your student took the PSAT in October, their scores are available on College Board. They can view their scores by logging into their account. Please note that CodeRVA does not have access to College Board passwords. Students will need to reset their password if they do not know it.
-
Your school counseling team invites you to access your PSAT scores and watch the College Board’s PSAT Overview to get a better idea of what those scores mean.
