Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-

Today’s Raptor Rundown is going to be short and sweet because we are all still celebrating the Class of 2025’s Graduation from this morning!

A belated (but no less heartfelt) THANK YOU to our awesome PTSA for a wonderful lunch and an amazing breakfast during Teacher Appreciation Week!  They followed up those treats for the staff with a fantastic breakfast for our Seniors during Graduation Rehearsal yesterday.  The Seniors also got end of the year goodie bags AND each of our students attending our End of the Year Awards Assemblies will receive one as well.  I’m so grateful for all our outgoing PTSA Executive Board members and their hard work over the past four years.  You will be missed!

Another belated note from the week of May 5…that week we also celebrated School Nurse Day!  On May 7 we honored our amazing Queen of the Clinic: Nurse Crowder!  Hopefully your student only visits her to say Hi, but if they are there for medical care or support, there is no one I would rather have helping my own child.  Thank you for all you do, Nurse Crowder!

Next week we will have our FINAL Flex Day of the year!  Check out what our School Counseling Department has planned:

  • School Counselors will hold a voluntary wellness program for our 11th grade students to disconnect from screens and focus on their wellbeing. School Counselors will also share the wisdom that Seniors bequeathed to them on their final Flex Day.

  • School Counselors will hold an open reflection forum with our 9th and 10th graders: “What I Wish I Knew…” They will share what they wish they knew as an incoming 9th grader. We’ll share their wisdom with our incoming Raptors at the 9th Grade Academy this summer. School Counselors will also share the wisdom that their upperclassmen passed down to them last Flex Day.

Here is a Save the Date you may want to put on your calendars now: Eastern Henrico Ruritan Club Fundraiser.pdf  I grew up in a very small community in Augusta County, and Ruritan Clubs were important civic organizations that helped many in our area.  If you aren’t familiar with Ruritan Clubs, their motto has three key words: Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.  To that end, one of the families at CodeRVA is helping to organize a fall fundraiser for CodeRVA through hosting a sporting clay shoot with the Ruritan Club.  Again, if you’re not from a rural area you may have no familiarity with this activity, but my husband who grew up in rural western New York heard about it and is looking forward to participating.  Even if this isn’t your cup of tea, I hope you will consider either donating to the Ruritan Club in lieu of participating or passing along this information to those in your network.  I will send this out again after our summer break if you aren’t quite ready to think about September yet.

That is it for this week’s edition, Raptors!  There will also be no Raptor Rundown next week on Friday as someone will be out of the office watching her only child graduate from high school.  Good luck to our students next year when I have no one to over-parent at home.  I’ll be turning all that energy to the students at school!  #jokingnotjoking

Have a great weekend, everyone!  Only 9 more school days left in the regular school year!

Previous Raptor Rundown Reminders

We have put out all our Lost and Found items for one final reckoning before May 30.  Please stop by the table outside of Dr. Goranson’s office to see if your lost items are there.  All items will be discarded or donated after May 30.

Attention Families of all RISING 12th Graders!  Before your Senior year begins, you have one major task to check off.  Please see below.

  • All 12th graders must show proof of two doses of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine: one dose before age 16 and one dose at age 16 or older. If a student did not receive a single dose before age 16, one dose given at age 16 or older is fine.

  • Families can send a printed or scanned copy of the student’s shot record to cindy.crowder@coderva.org or send in a copy with the student.  The deadline for submitting this information is August 15th, but don’t wait if you have this information on hand now.  Students will not be able to attend school in the fall without verification of this immunization.  If you have questions or need additional assistance, please call Nurse Crowder at 968-1823 or email her at the address above.

Attention all RISING Seniors in the Class of 2026!  Here is all the information you need about Senior portraits, quotes, Yearbooks and more!

For those of you who drive to CodeRVA regularly (or plan to do so in the next month), please see this update about the ongoing construction near our school.

  • The ongoing construction of the new baseball stadium is now including water lines under Hermitage that need to be incorporated. This will result in pieces of Hermitage being closed in several phases. Simply stated if you access Hermitage road via Robin Hood Road or access Robin Hood Road via Hermitage, you will need to follow the detours taking you around that intersection. The closure is expected to start on May 19.
