Good afternoon, CodeRVA Families-
We have had a lot of emails between us this week, so we will keep this one to the point with reminders. Before we get started though, a huge Thank You to our CodeRVA PTSA and all the parents who provided a wonderful Baked Potato Bar on Tuesday. It was a fantastic treat and we were so grateful!
First, here are two reminders you saw last week from our School Counseling team.
-
Attention All 11th Grade Families! On Wednesday, March 5, all 11th grade students will have the opportunity to sit for the SAT. This will take place at CodeRVA and is free of charge.
-
This day will be an asynchronous learning day for all 9th, 10th, and 12th graders. 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students should plan to work on their coursework from home on this day.
-
11th graders should plan to arrive as they normally do (between 8-8:50 AM) using their regular transportation.
-
Students will begin testing at 8:50 AM. The SAT exam generally takes between two and three hours, including breaks.
-
Lunch will be provided following the conclusion of the test, with snacks provided during breaks.
-
Students are allowed to leave following the conclusion of the test. Those that do not leave after testing will be provided lunch and a space to work quietly following testing.
-
If you have any additional questions, please contact your student’s School Counselor.
-
-
Attention Families of 9th grade students!
-
On Tuesday March 11th during rotations 1 and 2, ninth graders at CodeRVA Regional High School will sit for their Writing Performance Based Assessment. This is the first of three parts required to complete this assessment that happens in 9th grade, while the second and third parts are taken in tenth grade. For students who are absent on March 11, a make-up day is scheduled for March 13.
-
This assessment will be used as part of students’ writing portfolios that will serve as their End of Course (EOC) Writing SOL, and upon their successful completion, will result in a verified credit in writing, which is required for graduation. Our students have been working hard over the past several weeks to prepare for this assessment, and we are confident that they will be successful! Go Raptors!
-
Next, here is another reminder from our School Counselors about our Flex Day next week:
-
School Counselors will be speaking with our 11th graders about what they need to know for our upcoming SAT School Day Test on Wednesday, March 5th.
-
Our Reynolds Career Coach, Carolyn Young, will be completing applications with half of our 10th graders who have declared for the Associate Degree and Applied with Dual Enrollment Pathways. (The other half of our 10th grade AD/DE cohort will complete their applications at another time).
Here are two items our friends at the Virginia Department of Education asked us to pass along:
